In all the years we have had the Blackie Sweet Potato Vine, 2007 is the 1st year we have had some blossoms on them; and the odd thing is, just a few days before we noticed them we had a customer ask if we had ever seen a blossom on them as one she kept over winter had done the same.
Over the last several years during spring and summer we have noticed praying mantis in and around the greenhouses. Late summer some have become quite large. I believe though, this may be the smallest one we have seen. This picture was taken the 3rd week of April. (the baby mantis is below the index finger)
